Damn Small Linux (DSL) - a very small distribution of Linux. Translating literally distribution name - damn small Linux. Size is only 50MB. Damn Small Linux is intended for use on the weak (old) computers, as consumes very little resources.
Damn Small Linux includes a minimum set of software. It is assumed that the user will install the necessary software. The distribution can be downloaded in LiveCD mode or with a stick. Since the size distribution of the entire 50MB, it can be written on a small business card CD (CD-card) and always carry with them.
Distribution is based on Debian. Minimum system requirements is a processor of at least (x86) Intel 486 and 16Mb of RAM.
DSL uses the old Linux kernel version 2.4. This imposes a number of restrictions on the use of the distribution on modern computers. Most new hardware just maintained. However, the concept of distribution and is not intended to use it on the new equipment. Developers indicate that the transfer of the distribution to new kernel is not planned (one of the reasons - a very large size of the nucleus).
